San José City Tour & Shopping (Morning & Afternoon)

Starting on the East side of San Jose, the first thing we will see is Democracy Place and the National Museum, the Courts, Los Yoses, San Pedro Mall, Hispanidad Fountain and the Rodrigo Facio Campus in the University of Costa Rica.

After we have seen the capital’s main attractions, our first stop will be in the impressive Pre-Columbian Gold Museum and the beautiful National Theater where we will have a guided visit through these cultural gems.

After our visit, the tour continues to the western section of San Jose: La Sabana Metropolitan Park, Costa Rican Contemporary Art Museum or the first International Airport in Costa Rica, the National Gymnasium, the Comptroller’s office, residential area of Rohrmoser, Nunciatura, Nobel Peace prize winner Oscar Arias Sanchez’s home, Rohrmoser Boulevard and Pavas section.

At the end of the tour, you will have the opportunity of visiting a interesting shopping place where you will be able to buy a souvenir of your visit of San Jose.

On Sunday, the National Theater is closed and we will only see the outside part and then visit the Pre-colombian Gold Museum.

Arenal Volcano & Baldi Hot Spings (One day)

Located north of Costa Rica, the impressive Arenal Volcano is a natural phenomenon that attracts thousands and thousands of tourists due to its permanent, extraordinary and trusted volcanic activity, which on clear nights it seems like fireworks with intermittent explosions of ash and lava.

We will continue on our trip until we get to this wonder from nature then we must go to the north of the country, and inevitably we must make a stop in the famous town of Sarchi, with international fame, it has earned the name of the Birthplace of Costa Rica’s Artisans.

As we continue our trip we will go throw diverse plantations with agricultural products, ornamental plants and cattle ranches until we arrive to La Fortuna, for lunch in a cozy restaurant right in front of the volcano. This excellent location will allow us the best view to see any volcanic activity.

Later we will relax in one of the best thermal water places in the area where you will be able to enjoy an optional massage or other special treatment that must be reserved ahead of time.

Last, a wonderful dinner will be served with a great view of the volcano so you will not miss any opportunities to look out for the incandescent light explosions. After dinner we will begin our return trip to the city of San Jose.

We take the Pan-American Highway South, to start ascending the large “Iztaru”. The winding road travels through fertile lands cultivated with all kinds of vegetables as we enjoy a lovely panoramic view.  At the top of the volcano you can observe the main craters and on a clear day both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans can be seen.

As we descend to the city of Cartago we will stop at the Virgin of the Angels Basilica that according to religious custom is a peregrination site for many believers.

We take the Panamerican Highway South,to start ascending the large “Iztaru”. On the top of the volcano you can observe the main craters and on a clear day both Atlantic and Pacific Oceans can be seen.

Canopy Tour San Lorenzo (One day)

Definitely an adventure you can’t miss. We depart the city towards the mountains that surround the Central Valley, with a scenery of spectacular vegetation and extensive coffee plantations, ornamental plants and picturesque typical towns of Costa Rica. As we ascend, we will enjoy the climatic changes of our country.

This is an experience that is enjoyed only once, as we slide from one platform to the other just by flying in the canopy. Canopy San Lorenzo is located in the middle of a tropical forest reserve in a beautiful area full of orchids, bromeliads and other ornamental plants.

The sliding cable is divided into two parts:

• The forest section, which starts with small cable so the passenger will acquire confidence while admiring the forest. 
• The adventure section, with much longer cables suspended from high platforms that require large doses of adrenaline. The total length of the cable is 2500 meters or 8.202,10 ft. There are 19 platforms and the San Lorenzo Canopy which offers a 750-meter or 2.460,63 feet cable, the longest one in the country.
  

From one platform to the other the guide will explain the most important features of the forest. Finally, after only a short walk, we will have a delicious lunch in the restaurant of Land in Love.

Pueblo Antiguo is a theme park, which shows the architectural infrastructure that existed in San Jose in the beginning of XX century. It is a scenary composed of recreations of old buildings. Besides activities such as folkloric dances, professional actors masquerades and other memories of a not so long past.

Tierra Tica, Show and Dinner

Poás Volcano National Park/Grecia/ Sarchí

We take the Pan-American Highway towards the city of Alajuela. In route we will go to visit the Agriculture Monument, the Monument to Juan Santamaria and the famous Mango Park. As we ascend towards the volcano we will stop for a brief explanation on our golden bean the coffee, and then continue our trip through fern, flower and strawberry farms.

There is a noticeable change in temperature and vegetation, preparing us for the pleasure of the exuberant cloud forest of Poas Volcano.

At the Volcano we will have time to enjoy the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles, and hike on a trail to the beautiful Botos Lagoon as we learn about the different ecosystems in the park. After visiting the volcano, we will have time to enjoy a delicious lunch in one of the typical restaurants of the area.

Our third stop is beautiful Grecia. Considered  one of the cleanest towns of Latin America, it is home of the only Metal Church in Central America and a national monument that fills its inhabitants with pride. In order to catch a glimpse of local lifestyle we will also visit the central market area.

Our last stop is Sarchi, known as the Cradle of Costa Rican Artisans because of its fine workshops. Here we will have time to enjoy the artistic work of the local artisans as they create the famous typical oxcart and you will be able to shop for that special souvenir to take home.

Grecia & Sarchi (Oxcart Factory)

Located in the province of Alajuela and surrounded by sugar cane fields we find Grecia, a beautiful town considered one of the cleanest in Latin America, it is home of the only Metal Church in Central America and a national monument that makes its inhabitants feel proud.

We continue to Sarchi, known as the Cradle of Costa Rican Artisans because of its fine wood workshops. Here you will have time to enjoy the artistic work of the local artisans as they create the famous typical oxcart and you will be able to shop for that special souvenir to take home.

Adventure Combo

Costa Rica offers different kinds of white water rafting where the adrenaline shoots to the limit and fascinating Canopy tours can be experienced from the top of the trees. Now you can enjoy both activities combined in a single tour. Discover the natural wonders of Sarapiqui, a large territory located in the northern part of the country, with crystalline rivers, abundant scenic beauty and towns full of hard-working and friendly people.

As we depart from San Jose we drive close to Braulio Carrillo National Park, arriving to Sarapiqui where both adventure attractions can be enjoyed: the Canopy Tour in the middle of a secondary forest with high altitude trees, followed by lunch, and then Rafting in the white waters of the Sarapiqui River.

The Canopy tour lasts one and a half hour as you slide through the forest from ten cables of different lengths. Rafting on the Sarapiqui River on class II or III which allows a vibrant scenary for those who wish to enjoy this exciting activity. A group of unexpected rapids is combined with slow relaxing stretches along a distance of 8-miles which will make this an unforgettable experience for birdwatchers and nature lovers.

The Best Of The Pacific

We depart San Jose towards the Pacific coast via the Old Spanish route of 1606,a brief stop along the way for breakfast.

Once we arrive to our first destination, we will ride a boat along the Tarcoles River. Our guides will take us into the world of crocodiles, water and migratory birds.

After our boat ride we will visit one of the most beautiful protected areas, Punta Leona Resort, an exotic paradise surrounded by 750 hectares of transitional tropical wet forest to tropical dry forest, which is characteristic of this region. The beauty of its white sands and deep blue ocean are particular of the Pacific coast.

You will have all day free to enjoy this beautiful place and to enjoy the optional activities such as water sports, bathing in the crystal waters of the ocean or using the hotel pools. The tour includes a delicious lunch served in one of the local restaurants.

In the afternoon you may wish to enjoy an optional guided walk throught the jungle. Taking only one and a half hour, it is a good opportunity to observe wild life such as reptiles, amphibians and scorpions.

Sunset in Punta Leona is an extraordinary experience, which we will enjoy, and after this spectacular view we will return to San Jose.

Sueño Azul

Only one and a half hours from San Jose, we can enjoy one of the most complete and interesting adventure activities operated close to the city. It is the tour to Sueño Azul, which includes three fun adventures: Tubing down a river, horse back riding tour and canopy tour. All three in just one day.

Geared with life vests and a rubber tube you will glide for an hour in a river of very moderate velocity allowing you to enjoy the vegetation around you.  Then and for approximately one hour you will be able to horse back ride with well cared for horses until you arrive to the first platform of the Canopy tour.  Again, for an hour, you will be able to enjoy the forest, this time from the top, due to the ease of this thrilling activity.

Lunch will then be served to satisfy the appetites of the adventurers and if there is time you will have a chance of enjoying the natural pools of the river that have formed in this paradise-like place.

El Combo Tour Canyoning San Lorenzo 

The Canyoning tour in the reserve begins near a lake where general instructions and the appropriate equipment will be given by the guides. 10 minutes easy hike will lead you to 150 meters Canopy cable that will take you to the first rappel point, - a 43 meters tree platform.

At the tree base you will experience world unique Running Tarzan Swing.

50 meters easy hike and you are on a hanging bridge where four descends in total will begin. The first is 51 meters rappel from the bridge to the waterfall follow by 10, 14 and 18 meters rappels.

The tour continues to the BIG “super Tarzan Swing” and visits the Balsa River with its magnificent canyon views, wildlife and natural swimming pools.

Horseback riding or tractor carriage to the starting point will end the tour. The tour is not difficult and suits most ages.
The reserve is in the cloud forest, where one can enjoy all aspects of this diverse and colorful nature. Giant trees, vegetation, animals, birds and more are part of these wonderful surroundings.

Canopy Tour La Carpintera “A Combine Adventure”

This excellent combination offers: Hiking on our trails and challenging adventures on the zip lines. Come with us and experience a way of watching and enjoying safely the humid forest of "Cerros De La Carpintera".

The tour starts with a beautiful hiking for about 15 minutes inside the forest ,during the tour you will have an explanation about the forest and its life. When we reach the Canopy School we will be ready to reach the first platform where we will begin the adventure of the zip lines, 1800 meters of cable divided into 10 different lengths, with high quality equipment which is renovated frequently to guarandee our own high standards.
Between platforms and hiking on our trails of 200 and 300 meters each, you will enjoy the descent of the rappel. The experience will end with a great Costa Rican lunch in our Hacienda Chirraca Restaurant where we will share with the fellows the experiences just lived.

This is the new combination adventure to Barva area first we will visit the canopy of San José de la Montaña were we will enjoy a little snack before starting our 13 platforms located on beautiful cloud forest, surrounded by everyone that will give us the sensation of fresh air.
